How it works

1. Activate Amoeboid Changeling's second ability by tapping it, causing Otherworldly Escort to lose all creature types until end of turn.
2. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Otherworldly Escort.
3. When Otherworldly Escort dies, it and Amoeboid Changeling trigger.
4. Resolve the Amoeboid Changeling trigger, untapping it.
5. Resolve the Otherworldly Escort trigger, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield as a Spirit Detective.
6. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop hinges on a clever rules interaction: because Amoeboid Changeling temporarily strips Otherworldly Escort of all creature types, its own death trigger forgets that it wasn't a Spirit, allowing it to successfully return to the battlefield instead of staying dead. Once back, Woe Strider provides a reliable sacrifice outlet to send Otherworldly Escort back to the graveyard to repeat the cycle. Meanwhile, Thornbite Staff passively watches the carnage, using its untap ability to ready whatever creature is holding it—or you can leverage Woe Strider's repeated sacrifices to sculpt your library infinitely with repeated scry triggers.
