How it works
- Activate Ascendant Spirit using Devoted Druid's first ability by tapping it, adding .
- Activate Ascendant Spirit using Devoted Druid's second ability by putting a -1/-1 counter on it, untapping it.
- Repeat three additional times.
- Activate Ascendant Spirit's third ability by paying SSSS, putting four +1/+1 counters on it and causing it to gain the listed ability.
- Repeat until the number of instances of Ascendant Spirit's gained ability is equal to your deck size.
- Move to your combat phase, and deal combat damage to an opponent using Ascendant Spirit.
- Ascendant Spirit triggers once for each instance of the gained ability it has, causing you to draw that many cards.
This brilliant sequence transforms a humble Ascendant Spirit into an unstoppable, game-winning engine by feeding it the stolen potential of graveyard fodder through Agatha's Soul Cauldron. The Cauldron not only allows you to exile cards and grant their activated abilities, but it also synergizes with Corpsejack Menace, ensuring that any counters placed on your creatures are doubled. Meanwhile, Devoted Druid provides the infinite mana loop by repeatedly tapping for green and untapping itself with -1/-1 counters—counters that happily cancel out the +1/+1 counters to keep the engine running. By channeling this infinite mana and activating Ascendant Spirit over and over, you stack up a massive number of combat damage triggers that will draw your entire deck in a single swing.
