How it works

  1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Putrid Goblin, adding CC.
  2. Putrid Goblin's persist ability and Mortician Beetle trigger.
  3. Resolve the Putrid Goblin trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 and a vigilance counter.
  4. Resolve the Mortician Beetle trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
  5. Activate Tayam by paying 3, removing a +1/+1 counter from Mortician Beetle and removing both counters from Putrid Goblin.
  6. Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Putrid Goblin, adding CC.
  7. Putrid Goblin's persist ability and Mortician Beetle trigger.
  8. Resolve the Putrid Goblin trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 and a vigilance counter.
  9. Resolve the Mortician Beetle trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
  10. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Putrid Goblin, adding CC.
  11. Mortician Beetle triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on itself.
  12. Resolve the Tayam ability from step 5, causing yourself to mill three cards and return Putrid Goblin from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  13. Repeat.
