How it works
Play a land card, triggering Dúnedain Rangers and Bloodghast.
Resolve the Bloodghast trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
Resolve the Dúnedain Rangers trigger, causing the Ring to tempt you, and causing Bloodghast to become your Ring-bearer.
Sméagol triggers.
Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Bloodghast, adding CC.
Resolve the Sméagol trigger, causing an opponent to reveal cards from the top of their library until they reveal a land card, then causing you to put the land onto the battlefield tapped under your control, and your opponent to put all other revealed cards into their graveyard.
When the land enters the battlefield, Dúnedain Rangers and Bloodghast trigger.
Repeat from step 2.
NOTE: This combo can be stopped if an opponent runs out of lands in their library, so it is recommended to alternate opponents in between cycles to maximize the amount of iterations.
This brilliant loop sets off a chain reaction every time you simply drop a land, starting with Dúnedain Rangers and Bloodghast triggering off the landfall event. As Bloodghast slips back onto the battlefield from your graveyard and the Rangers make it your Ring-bearer, Ashnod's Altar steps in to sacrifice that same Bloodghast for colorless mana. This death feeds Sméagol, Helpful Guide to trigger the Ring's temptation, which steals lands straight out of your opponent's library and puts them onto your battlefield. Each stolen land repeats the whole process anew, letting you drain your opponents' libraries while generating an endless harvest of mana and triggers.
