How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Cauldron Familiar.
2. Activate Cauldron Familiar by sacrificing a Food, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. When Cauldron Familiar enters the battlefield, it and Samwise triggers.
4. Resolve the Cauldron Familiar trigger, causing each opponent to lose 1 life and you to gain one life.
5. Resolve the Samwise trigger, creating a Food token.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop turns a modest kitchen cat into an engine of endless drain by cycling it in and out of the graveyard. When you sacrifice Cauldron Familiar to Shilgengar, Sire of Famine, the Sire rewards you with a Blood token to feed its heavier ambitions, while the cat's own ability allows it to leap right back out of the graveyard by sacrificing a Food. That is where Samwise Gamgee comes in: every single time Cauldron Familiar re-enters the battlefield, Samwise's triggered ability steps in to bake a fresh Food token to replace the one you spent. The result is an unbroken cycle where the cat constantly drops in to drain your opponents' life totals while generating infinite artifacts, death triggers, and lifegain.
