How it works

1. Activate Lurking Roper by tapping it, creating a token copy of itself.
2. When the Lurking Roper token enters the battlefield, Verdant Sun's Avatar triggers, causing you to gain life equal to the Lurking Roper token's toughness.
3. Each Lurking Roper you control triggers, untapping themselves.
4. Repeat.

By enchanting Lurking Roper with Splinter Twin, you gain the ability to tap the Roper to make a haste-enabled token copy of it. Because Verdant Sun's Avatar is sitting on your board, every single time that new Lurking Roper token enters the battlefield, its toughness immediately triggers a life-gain event. That sudden burst of life satisfies Lurking Roper's static untap condition, causing both the original and the token to snap right back upright. This lets you tap the token again to repeat the loop, generating an unbounded army of hasty copies and life without ever needing to pass the turn.
