How it works

1. Cast Artificial Evolution by paying , changing all instances of "Merfolk" on Judge of Currents to "Horror" until end of turn.
2. Activate Lurking Roper by tapping it, adding one mana of any color.
3. Judge of Currents triggers, causing you to gain 1 life.
4. Lurking Roper triggers, untapping itself.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms a humble insect into a self-sustaining mana engine by rewriting the tribe rules of the battlefield. Thanks to Artificial Evolution permanently altering Judge of Currents to care about Horrors instead of Merfolk, the static mana-generating ability granted to Lurking Roper by Cryptolith Rite becomes the catalyst for an infinite cycle. Whenever the tapped Lurking Roper (now a Horror via the evolution) produces any color of mana, Judge of Currents triggers to grant you life, which immediately untaps Lurking Roper so you can tap it again.
