How it works

1. Give Lurking Roper lifelink, if needed.
2. Activate Lurking Roper by tapping it, dealing 2 damage to any target and causing you to gain 2 life.
3. Lurking Roper triggers, untapping itself.
4. Repeat from step 2.

By turning Lurking Roper into a turret with Heavy Arbalest, you create a self-sustaining loop that exploits the creature's own untap trigger. Because tapping the equipped creature to fire its damage ability also gains you 2 life through lifelink, Lurking Roper immediately untaps itself, bypassing the usual tap-to-shoot restriction and the equipment's own untap lockdown. This lets you continuously rattle off infinite damage and infinite lifegain triggers, melting any target your heart desires.
