How it works

1. Activate Perilous Forays by paying 1 and sacrificing a creature, causing you to search your library for a land card with a basic land type and put it onto the battlefield tapped.
2. When the land enters the battlefield Nissa and Felidar Retreat trigger.
3. Resolve the Nissa trigger, adding 1.
4. Resolve the Felidar Retreat trigger, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This clever setup transforms a modest sacrifice outlet into an engine that strips basic-typed lands straight out of your deck. Every time you pay to activate Perilous Forays, you send a creature to the graveyard to fetch a land, which immediately triggers Felidar Retreat to replace that lost fodder with a fresh Cat Beast token. At the same time, Nissa, Resurgent Animist fuels the loop by providing a mana of any color upon entry—effectively helping to pay for the Forays activation—while simultaneously digging toward your key creature types if she hits her stride.
