How it works

1. Activate Goblin Firestarter by sacrificing it.
2. When Goblin Firestarter dies, Mortuary and Ashes of the Abhorrent trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Goblin Firestarter from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Ashes of the Abhorrent trigger, causing you to gain 1 life
5. Resolve the Goblin Firestarter ability.
6. Cast Goblin Firestarter from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
7. Repeat.

This infinite loop turns Goblin Firestarter into a recursive engine by using Mortuary to redirect the sacrificed goblin straight back to the top of your library every time it dies. Bolas's Citadel makes this loop self-sustaining by allowing you to recast the creature directly from your library, substituting its mana value for life payments instead of traditional mana. Meanwhile, Ashes of the Abhorrent ensures you gain 1 life with every death to offset the life spent casting the goblin, completely neutralizing the Citadel's cost and enabling an infinite sequence of damage, triggers, and storm count.
