The Peregrine Dynamo
Target opponent loses the game

How it works

  1. Deal combat damage to an opponent using Etrata, triggering its ability.
  2. Holding priority, activate The Peregrine Dynamo by paying 1 and tapping it, targeting Etrata's trigger.
  3. Holding priority, activate Tawnos by paying U manaR mana and tapping it, copying The Peregrine Dynamo's trigger, targeting Etrata's trigger.
  4. Resolve both Peregrine Dynamo triggers, copying Etrata's trigger twice.
  5. Resolve all Etrata triggers, exiling three creatures an opponent controls and putting hit counters on them, and then causing that opponent to lose the game.

This cunning sequence turns Etrata, the Silencer's alternate-win condition into a one-shot kill by multiplying her triggered ability right on the spot. When Etrata connects with an opponent, her combat damage trigger goes on the stack to exile a creature and place a hit counter, which normally forces her to shuffle away and leaves you needing three separate successful attacks. By tapping The Peregrine Dynamo, you can copy that legendary trigger, and then use Tawnos, Urza's Apprentice to copy the Dynamo's activation itself. Resolving this cascade of copies drops three hit counters on three different creatures all from a single unblocked strike, instantly fulfilling Etrata's requirement and causing the defending player to lose the game on the spot.
