Target opponent loses the game

How it works

  1. Deal combat damage to an opponent using Etrata, triggering its ability.
  2. Holding priority, activate Strionic Resonator by paying 2 and tapping it, targeting Etrata's trigger.
  3. Holding priority, activate Tawnos by paying U manaR mana and tapping it, copying Strionic Resonator's trigger, targeting Etrata's trigger.
  4. Resolve both Strionic Resonator triggers, copying Etrata's trigger twice.
  5. Resolve all Etrata triggers, exiling three creatures an opponent controls and putting hit counters on them, and then causing that opponent to lose the game.

This sinister assassination loop hinges on weaponizing Etrata, the Silencer's combat damage trigger to immediately load up an opponent with the three exiled cards and hit counters required to win the game on the spot. Since Etrata would normally shuffle herself away after just one hit, you bypass that drawback by intercepting her "whenever" triggered ability while it's on the stack. Both Strionic Resonator and Tawnos, Urza's Apprentice step in here as the ultimate accomplices, allowing you to copy that single combat trigger multiple times in one fell swoop.
