How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Selesnya Sanctuary.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Thaumatog by sacrificing Selesnya Sanctuary.
5. When Selesnya Sanctuary dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Selesnya Sanctuary from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Selesnya Sanctuary enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Resolve the Thaumatog ability
8. Repeat.

This clever loop hinges entirely on Toph, the First Metalbender redefining your nontoken artifacts as lands, which allows Selesnya Sanctuary's return trigger to bounce a zero-mana artifact right back to your hand. When you cast that artifact, Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers its earthbend ability, turning Selesnya Sanctuary into a land-creature that you can immediately sacrifice to Thaumatog. Because Selesnya Sanctuary dies and returns to the battlefield tapped via its earthbend clause, its own entry trigger fires to loop the artifact all over again, fueling an infinite storm count, landfall triggers, and an infinitely large Thaumatog.
