How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Promised Kannushi, adding CC.
2. When Promised Kannushi dies, its soulshift ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to your hand.
3. Activate Signpost Scarecrow by paying 2, adding .
4. Cast Promised Kannushi by paying .
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Promised Kannushi into a self-returning engine by leveraging Conspiracy to redefine its creature type as a Spirit, thereby satisfying its own soulshift 7 trigger when it dies. Ashnod's Altar provides the initial sacrifice outlet while generating the colorless mana needed to keep the cycle going, which is then filtered into green mana through Signpost Scarecrow's activated ability to recast the creature. Because the mana cost to recast Promised Kannushi is fully covered by the Altar and the Scarecrow, you can repeat this entire sequence infinitely to trigger endless enters-the-battlefield, leaves-the-battlefield, and death events.
