How it works

1. Activate Winding Canyons' second ability by paying 2 and tapping it, allowing you to cast creature spells as though they have flash this turn.
2. Cast Universal Automaton from your hand or graveyard by paying 1.
3. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Universal Automaton, adding 1.
4. When Universal Automaton dies, Zask triggers.
5. Holding priority, cast Universal Automaton from your graveyard by paying 1.
6. Resolve the Zask trigger, causing you to mill two cards.
7. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop turns Zask, Skittering Swarmlord into an engine by taking advantage of the unique creature types granted by Universal Automaton's changeling ability. Because the Automaton counts as an Insect, Zask's static ability lets you cast it directly from your graveyard, while Phyrexian Altar provides the sacrifice outlet needed to generate mana and trigger Zask's mill ability.
