How it works

1. Activate Magmaw by paying 1 and sacrificing another nonland permanent, dealing 1 damage to an opponent.

This clever loop turns Magmaw into a lethal artillery piece by using its own sacrifice ability to fuel a self-sustaining cycle. By equipping Amorphous Axe to Magmaw, it gains every creature type—crucially making it a Pirate so that its damage triggers Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator. Every time Magmaw hurls a sacrificed permanent at an opponent, Malcolm generates a fresh batch of Treasure tokens, which Xorn generously multiplies to ensure you always come out ahead on resources. Sacrifice the extra Treasures for mana to pay Magmaw's activation cost, and you've got an endless loop of fiery, game-ending damage.
