How it works

  1. Cast Acererak either from your hand or from the command zone by paying B mana and commander tax, if applicable.
  2. When Acererak enters, its first ability triggers.
  3. Holding priority, activate Relic of Legends' second ability by tapping Acererak, adding B mana.
  4. Resolve the Acererak trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand, and venturing into Lost Mine of Phandelver.
  5. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns Acererak the Archlich into a self-returning engine by leveraging its own entry trigger to bounce itself back to your hand before it can complete the Tomb of Annihilation. Because Acererak is legendary, Relic of Legends provides the exact black mana needed to recast him while tapping him to avoid the battlefield entirely, while Planar Gate steps in to discount his casting cost so the loop becomes completely mana-neutral. As Acererak endlessly enters and leaves the battlefield, you can repeatedly venture into the Lost Mine of Phandelver to cycle through the dungeon room effects indefinitely, generating an unstoppable cascade of near-infinite resources.
