How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Wretched Throng, adding CC.
2. When Wretched Throng dies, it and Pitiless Plunderer trigger.
3. Holding priority, activate Sundering Archaic by paying 2, putting Wretched Throng from your graveyard onto the bottom of your library.
4. Resolve the Pitiless Plunderer trigger, creating a Treasure token.
5. Resolve the Wretched Throng trigger, putting Wretched Throng from your library into your hand.
6. Activate the Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding .
7. Cast Wretched Throng by paying due to Planar Gate.
8. Repeat.

This clever loop centers around Wretched Throng, which feeds Ashnod's Altar to generate the colorless mana needed to fuel the engine while simultaneously triggering Pitiless Plunderer to create a Treasure token upon its death. To keep the cycle going without running out of cards, you activate Sundering Archaic to tuck Wretched Throng right back from the graveyard to the bottom of your library, allowing its own death trigger to successfully tutor it back to your hand. Meanwhile, Planar Gate sits passively on the board, lowering the casting cost of Wretched Throng just enough so that the mana from your Treasures and altar covers every iteration with ease.
