How it works

1. Cast Appa either from your hand or from the command zone by paying plus commander tax, if applicable.
2. When Appa enters, its first ability triggers, exiling Felidar Guardian with the ability to cast it later from exile.
3. Cast Felidar Guardian from exile by paying 0.
4. Appa's second ability triggers, creating a 1/1 Ally creature token.
5. When Felidar Guardian enters, it triggers, blinking Appa.
6. Repeat from step 2.

This delightful loop relies on Appa, Steadfast Guardian to set up an indefinite dance of celestial rescue. When Appa enters the battlefield, its "airbend" ability exiles Felidar Guardian, allowing you to cast it for the discounted rate of {2}. Because Planar Gate reduces the cost of creature spells by {2}, that cast from exile becomes entirely free for {0}. Every time you cast Felidar Guardian for zero, Appa's triggered ability rewards you with a fresh 1/1 white Ally creature token. Finally, when Felidar Guardian returns to the battlefield, its own entry trigger blinks Appa, resetting the entire engine to repeat the process.
