How it works

  1. Activate Yurlok of Scorch Thrash by paying 1 and tapping it, causing each player to add B manaR manaG mana
  2. Activate Yurlok of Scorch Thrash by paying at most 2 and untapping it, causing itself to get +2/+2 until end of turn.
  3. Repeat an arbitrarily large amount of times.
  4. It is strongly recommended to empty your mana pool using a mana sink before proceeding if Agatha of the Vile Cauldron has power 2 or greater.
  5. Move to your next step or phase, causing each player to lose life equal to the amount of unspent mana in their mana pool.
  6. Each player whose mana pool contained an amount of mana equal to or greater than their life total loses the game due to having 0 or less life, which causes a draw if every player lost the game.

This mesmerizing loop relies on Yurlok of Scorch Thrash to flood every player's mana pool with black, red, and green mana, while Umbral Mantle allows Yurlok to untap repeatedly to keep the engine running. To make this loop work seamlessly, Agatha of the Vile Cauldron steps in as a cost reducer, shrinking the untap activation price so you can continuously churn through the sequence. Because Yurlok of Scorch Thrash also transforms unspent mana into life loss when phases end, flooding the board with boundless energy ultimately turns into lethal damage for everyone involved, usually ending the game in a chaotic draw.
