Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds + There and Back Again + Gauntlets of Light
How it works
- At the beginning of your precombat main phase, There and Back Again triggers, putting a lore counter on it.
- There and Back Again's third chapter ability triggers, creating a legendary 6/6 Smaug creature token and causing you to sacrifice There and Back Again.
- Activate Ghired by tapping it, creating a copy of the Smaug token.
- Put either Smaug token into your graveyard due to the legend rule.
- When the Smaug token dies, it triggers, creating fourteen Treasure tokens.
- Activate three Treasure tokens by tapping and sacrificing them, adding 2.
- Activate Ghired by paying 2, untapping it.
- Repeat from step 3.
This explosive engine centers around Smaug, the legendary Dragon token birthed by the final chapter of There and Back Again, which rewards you with fourteen Treasure tokens upon its demise. Because Smaug is a token that entered the battlefield this turn, Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds can leverage its haste and active tap ability to immediately stamp out another exact copy of that massive Dragon. The legendary rule then demands that you instantly bin one of the Dragons, triggering Smaug's death ability to flood your board with fourteen fresh Treasures. By spending just three of those newly minted Treasures to fuel the untap ability granted by Gauntlets of Light, Ghired stands ready to tap and duplicate the surviving Smaug over and over again, generating an endless cascade of mana, death triggers, and infinite Treasure tokens.
