How it works
At the beginning of your precombat main phase, There and Back Again triggers, putting a lore counter on it.
There and Back Again's third chapter ability triggers, creating a legendary 6/6 Smaug creature token and causing you to sacrifice There and Back Again.
Activate Ghired by tapping it, creating a copy of the Smaug token.
Put either Smaug token into your graveyard due to the legend rule.
When the Smaug token dies, it triggers, creating fourteen Treasure tokens.
Activate three Treasure tokens by tapping and sacrificing them, adding 3.
Activate Ghired by paying 3 and untapping it, giving it +2/+2 until end of turn.
Repeat from step 3.
This explosive loop transforms the mighty dragon from *There and Back Again*'s final chapter into a boundless engine of wealth and power. By equipping Umbral Mantle to Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds, you gain a repeatable untap outlet that feeds directly on the Treasure tokens generated whenever a legendary Smaug token perishes to the legend rule. Because Ghired grants all your nontoken creatures the ability to copy tokens that entered the battlefield that turn, you can endlessly recreate Smaug, sacrifice the duplicate to legendary state-based actions, cash in the resulting fourteen Treasures to untap Ghired with the Mantle, and repeat the cycle for infinite mana and tokens.
