How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Twilight Shepherd.
2. When Twilight Shepherd dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Vizier of Remedies.
3. Repeat.

This elegant loop relies on Twilight Shepherd and its native persist ability, which normally would exhaust itself after a single recursion due to the -1/-1 counter it accumulates. However, Vizier of Remedies acts as a brilliant mitigation engine, subtly rewriting the math so that no counters are ever placed upon the Shepherd at all when it returns. This leaves the creature permanently primed to persist infinitely. Meanwhile, Ashnod's Altar eagerly converts this endless cycle of sacrifice into a massive reservoir of colorless mana, fueling whatever grand master plan you have in mind.
