How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Trapjaw Kelpie.
2. When Trapjaw Kelpie dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Vizier of Remedies.
3. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the self-replacing nature of persist into a perpetual motion machine by using Vizier of Remedies to completely nullify the -1/-1 counters that would normally shut Trapjaw Kelpie down for good. Because the Kelpie returns to the battlefield completely clean of counters, you can feed it directly back into Phyrexian Altar over and over again. Each time the Kelpie meets its end, the Altar rewards your sacrifice with a mana of any color while endlessly churning out every enter-the-battlefield, death, and sacrifice trigger your heart could possibly desire.
