How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Puppeteer Clique.
2. When Puppeteer Clique dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Vizier of Remedies.
3. When Puppeteer Clique enters, it triggers, allowing you to put a creature card from an opponent's graveyard onto the battlefield under your control.
4. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop sets up an endless cycle of graveyard theft and sacrifice by leveraging Vizier of Remedies' replacement effect to completely negate the -1/-1 counter that would normally cripple Puppeteer Clique's persist ability. Because the Clique returns to the battlefield completely clean every single time it dies, its entrance trigger fires repeatedly to pull every creature card out of your opponents' graveyards. Meanwhile, feeding Puppeteer Clique to Altar of Dementia lets you mill your opponents' libraries away entirely while fueling the very loop that keeps the engine running.
