How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing River Kelpie.
2. When River Kelpie dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Vizier of Remedies.
3. When River Kelpie enters, its first ability triggers, causing you to draw a card.
4. Repeat.

This loop relies on the brilliant interaction between Vizier of Remedies and River Kelpie's persist ability, neutralizing the -1/-1 counter that would normally keep the Kelpie dead forever. By sacrificing River Kelpie to Thermopod, you generate the red mana needed to fuel your engine while sending the Kelpie to the graveyard. Every time it returns to the battlefield thanks to that mitigated persist trigger, River Kelpie's own entry ability capitalizes on the transition from the graveyard to draw you a card, letting you cycle through your entire deck while continuously harvesting sacrifice benefits.
