How it works

3. Resolve the Woe Strider ability
4. Repeat.

This loop turns a simple sacrifice outlet into an impenetrable counterspell lock by neutralizing the primary drawback of persist. While Woe Strider happily converts your creatures into repeatable scry triggers, Glen Elendra Archmage provides the heavy lifting by repeatedly sacrificing itself to counter opposing noncreature spells. Normally, persist would leave the Archmage stranded with a -1/-1 counter and unable to trigger again, but Vizier of Remedies steps in to alter how those counters are placed, ensuring the Archmage returns completely clean every single time.
