How it works

  1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing the creature with a coin counter on it.
  2. When the creature dies, Athreos's second ability and Reluctant Role Model's second ability trigger.
  3. Resolve the Athreos trigger, returning the creature from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  4. Resolve the Reluctant Role Model trigger, putting a coin counter on it if it wasn't the creature that was sacrificed, or another nontoken creature you control otherwise.
  5. Resolve the Woe Strider ability, causing you to scry 1.
  6. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on the overlapping triggers of your board to generate endless value using Woe Strider as the dedicated sacrifice outlet. By feeding a creature to Woe Strider, you trigger both Athreos, Shroud-Veiled and Reluctant Role Model; Athreos's delayed reanimation brings the fallen creature right back to the battlefield, while Reluctant Role Model ensures any counters are successfully preserved and redistributed. This setup transforms a simple sacrifice into an endless cycle of leaves-the-battlefield and enters-the-battlefield triggers, letting you constantly scry through your library while repeating the process indefinitely.
