How it works

  1. At the beginning of your combat phase, Ayara triggers, returning Scourge of the Throne from your graveyard to the battlefield, and giving it haste until end of turn.
  2. Declare Scourge of the Throne as an attacker, attacking an opponent whose life total is higher than or equal to yours.
  3. Scourge of the Throne's dethrone ability and second abilities trigger.
  4. Resolve the second Scourge of the Throne trigger, causing you to untap all attacking creatures and to get an additional combat phase after this one.
  5. Holding priority, activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Scourge of the Throne, causing you to scry 1.
  6. Resolve the second Scourge of the Throne trigger from step 3, doing nothing.
  7. Repeat each combat phase.

By leveraging the combat-resetting prowess of Scourge of the Throne alongside the graveyard recursion of Ayara, Widow of the Realm // Ayara, Furnace Queen, this loop grants you an endless succession of attack steps. While the dragon is attacking an opponent with the highest life total, its dethrone and extra-combat triggers set the stage, but it's Woe Strider that safely sweeps the creature away before the turn ends, letting you send it right back to the graveyard to be revived anew by Ayara's combat trigger. Along the way, Woe Strider's sacrifice outlet turns every single iteration into a fountain of death triggers, enters-the-battlefield events, and scry effects to sculpt your path to victory.
