How it works

  1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Weaponcraft Enthusiast.
  2. When Weaponcraft Enthusiast dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Weaponcraft Enthusiast enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
  4. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
  5. Repeat.

This elegant loop transforms the graveyard into an engine of endless iteration by leveraging Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's passive grant of persist to your nontoken creatures. When you sacrifice Weaponcraft Enthusiast to Woe Strider's activated ability, the creature's persist returns it to the battlefield, where its fabricate ability immediately triggers to place a +1/+1 counter on it; because state-based actions cancel out the new counter with its existing -1/+1 counter, the Enthusiast is left clean and ready to be sacrificed all over again. Meanwhile, the front face of the card, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn, quietly sits in reserve with its ability to give your creature spells convoke, tying the strategy together across the day-and-night cycle.
