How it works

1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing the persist creature.
2. When the persist creature dies, it triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to your commander's ability granted to it by Master Chef.
3. Resolve the Woe Strider ability, causing you to scry 1.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Master Chef to constantly negate the drawback of your persist creatures by granting them an extra +1/+1 counter as they enter, immediately neutralizing any -1/+1 counters that would otherwise lock them out of the game. Woe Strider acts as the engine's sacrificial outlet, letting you pitch those persist creatures into the graveyard while simultaneously letting you filter your draws with its built-in scry ability. Because Woe Strider also provides a Goat token on entry, it even helps jumpstart the loop if you need an initial body to sacrifice.
