How it works

1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing a creature with mana value 1 or less.
2. When the creature dies, Mortuary triggers, putting the creature from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
3. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
4. Cast the creature from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
5. Bontu's Monument triggers, causing you to gain 1 life and each opponent to lose 1 life.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms Woe Strider into a perpetual engine by relying on Mortuary to intercept your dying creatures and immediately recycle them back to the top of your library. Gwenom, Remorseless grants you the crucial ability to play that card straight off the library, bypassing traditional mana costs by paying life instead—a cost entirely offset by the life drain and gain provided by Bontu's Monument. Because Bontu's Monument also reduces the casting cost of your black creature spells, the entire sequence feeds on itself to drain your opponents out of the game while generating an endless stream of sacrifice and cast triggers.
