How it works

1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Evernight Shade
2. When Evernight Shade dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
3. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
4. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Evernight Shade
5. When Evernight Shade dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
6. Evernight Shade enters and dies as a state-based action due to having 0 toughness. Its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
7. Resolve the Woe Strider ability from step 4.
8. Repeat from step 4.
