How it works

  1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Cultivator of Blades.
  2. When Cultivator of Blades dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Cultivator of Blades enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
  4. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
  5. Repeat.

This clever loop revolves around Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's static ability, which grants persist to your other nontoken creatures, setting up Cultivator of Blades to return from the dead with a -1/-1 counter whenever it perishes. Woe Strider acts as the sacrificial engine that triggers this demise while simultaneously fueling the combo's secondary benefits through its scry ability. Crucially, every time Cultivator of Blades returns, its fabricate ability triggers anew, placing a +1/+1 counter that immediately neutralizes its existing -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. This eternal cycle lets you endlessly loop the artificer alongside its front face, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn, generating an infinite stream of sacrifice, death, and entry triggers to sculpt your library with infinite scrys.
