How it works

1. If Morselhoarder has any -1/-1 counters on it, activate it by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, adding one mana of any color.
2. Repeat step 1 as necessary until Morselhoarder has no -1/-1 counters on it.
3. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Morselhoarder.
4. When Morselhoarder dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
6. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns the back side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into an engine for infinite resources by exploiting Morselhoarder's unique relationship with -1/-1 counters. While Isilu grants your creatures persist, Morselhoarder naturally enters the battlefield bearing two -1/-1 counters, which you can strip away for mana before feeding it to Woe Strider's sacrifice outlet. Because the persist trigger returns Morselhoarder with only a single -1/-1 counter, it can immediately be tapped for its mana ability once more before repeating the cycle. Woe Strider effortlessly keeps the loop moving while letting you scry through your entire deck, generating infinite sacrifices, death triggers, and colored mana.
