How it works

1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Golgari Thug.
2. When Golgari Thug dies, it and Vein Ripper trigger.
3. Resolve the Golgari Thug trigger, putting it from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Vein Ripper trigger, causing you to gain 2 life and target opponent to lose 2 life.
5. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
6. Cast Golgari Thug from the top of your library by paying 2 life.
7. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns Woe Strider into a lethal engine by using its sacrifice outlet to feed Golgari Thug directly to the graveyard, triggering its ability to place itself right back on top of your library. From there, Gwenom, Remorseless lets you bypass traditional mana costs by casting Golgari Thug straight from the top of your library at the cost of your own life—a price easily offset by the life-draining trigger of Vein Ripper every time a creature dies. By endlessly repeating this cycle, Vein Ripper slowly drains your opponent out of the game while Woe Strider keeps the sacrifice count climbing.
