How it works

1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing the persist creature.
2. When the persist creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When the persist creature enters the battlefield, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Woe Strider ability, causing you to scry 1.
5. Repeat.

By granting your other nontoken creatures Fabricate 1, Cayth, Famed Mechanist turns every entering body into an engine for counters. Woe Strider acts as the ultimate sacrifice outlet and scry engine to feed the loop. Together, they exploit creatures with persist, using Cayth's granted fabricate trigger to place a +1/+1 counter that instantly neutralizes the incoming -1/-1 counter. This creates an endless cycle of sacrifice, death, and resurrection.
