How it works

  1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Cayth.
  2. When Cayth dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Cayth enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
  4. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
  5. Repeat.

This clever loop hinges on the dynamic interplay between the twilight side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, which grants persist to all other nontoken creatures you control, and Woe Strider, which provides a free, repeatable sacrifice outlet. By feeding Cayth, Famed Mechanist to Woe Strider, Cayth triggers its own persist ability to return with a -1/-1 counter, which is then immediately neutralized by the +1/+1 counter placed upon it by its own fabricate ability. Because this cycle resets the counters every single time, you can sacrifice Cayth over and over to generate infinite death triggers, enter-the-battlefield triggers, and a bottomless supply of scry 1 filtrations.
