How it works

1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing the persist creature.
2. When the persist creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Uncivil Unrest
3. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
4. Repeat

This clever loop relies on a persist creature (like Kitchen Finks or Murderous Redcap) and Woe Strider to feed an endless cycle of sacrifices, with Woe Strider's own sacrifice outlet letting you continuously trigger scry 1 while generating infinite death triggers. The true engine that makes this infinite is Uncivil Unrest, whose riot-granting static ability ensures the persist creature enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter. That counter immediately cancels out the -1/-1 counter from the persist trigger, resetting the creature so it can die again and again.
