Take a Tour

What Grimoire of the Planes does, how to get started, and every page in it, in one place.

Grimoire of the Planes is a deck-building and collection companion for Magic: The Gathering — build and validate decks across every format, track the cards you own, and discover the combos hiding in your collection. It's free to get started.

Getting started

  1. 1

Register and verify your email — check spam once if it doesn't show up right away.

  2. 2

Add some cards to your Arcanum. Search and add them one at a time, or bulk-import a CSV — an MTG Arena export works directly.

  3. 3

Build a deck in the Studio: pick a format, add cards, and mark your commander if the format uses one.

  4. 4

Open the Combos panel inside your deck and hit Random Combo, or search by color and format to see what's hiding in your card pool.

  5. 5

Want more? Apprentice and Alchemist unlock even more, including Chronicler, the AI deck assistant — see what each tier offers below.

Your Arcanum

A searchable inventory of the cards you own, backed by Scryfall's full card database. Add cards by search, bulk-import a CSV, or scan them with your phone's camera.

  • Search and add by name, or bulk-import a CSV — an MTG Arena export works directly
  • Scan physical cards with your phone's camera
  • Owned copies and wishlist copies are tracked separately
  • Try a small collection right in your browser, no account needed

Decks

Every deck you're building, grouped by format, with card art on every tile. Start from scratch, upload an existing decklist, or build from an official precon.

  • Upload a decklist, or paste one in
  • Start from an official precon instead of a blank deck
  • Each tile shows its format and card count at a glance

The Deck Builder Studio

Pick a format and every deck-size, singleton, and copy-limit rule is enforced live as you build, with banned and not-legal warnings and a one-click cleanup if a commander's color identity gets crossed.

  • A commander pick locks color identity, with a one-click cleanup for anything outside it
  • Land helpers fill in a sensible basic count, or re-split your mana base to match your color pips
  • Export straight to MTG Arena's import format
  • Combo Web lays out your whole deck's known combos as one interactive map, showing how the pieces connect
  • Chronicler, the AI deck assistant, lives in the Combos panel — an Alchemist-tier perk (see below)

  • Filter by color, format, card, or how many pieces the combo has
  • Every combo gets its own explanation of why it works, written the moment you open it
  • Combo Web turns any card into an interactive map of every combo it's part of

Chronicles

Decklists from Magic tournaments, not a hypothetical meta guide. Search by format, card, or tournament to see what people are playing and winning with.

  • 180,000+ tracked tournament decks
  • Search by format, card, or a specific tournament
  • Every deck gets an archetype tag, the same classifier your own decks get

The Codex

Win-rate stats computed from tracked tournament results — by archetype, by color identity, or both at once. Facts only: low-sample cells are marked, never guessed at.

  • Win rate by archetype and by color identity
  • A matchup heatmap with a legend explaining the scale
  • Cards that overperform or underperform their archetype
