How it works

  1. Activate Wall of Roots by putting two -0/-1 counters on it (due to Winding Constrictor), adding G mana.
  2. Activate Tayam by paying 3 and removing three counters from creatures you control.
  3. In response to Tayam's ability, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Wall of Roots, adding ColorlessColorless.
  4. Resolve Tayam's ability, milling yourself three cards and returning Wall of Roots from your graveyard to the battlefield with two vigilance counters on it due to Tayam and Winding Constrictor.
  5. Repeat.

This engine spins into an infinite loop by continually recycling Wall of Roots through the graveyard, fueled by Winding Constrictor's remarkable knack for multiplying every counter involved. Wall of Roots naturally provides the green mana needed to help pay for Tayam, Luminous Enigma's recursion ability, while Ashnod's Altar converts the wall into the colorless mana required to complete the activation cost. Whenever Tayam, Luminous Enigma brings Wall of Roots back, Tayam's static ability and Winding Constrictor ensure it re-enters with extra vigilance counters—providing the exact fuel needed to pay for the next activation and keep the cycle grinding endlessly.
