How it works

1. Activate Bloodthrone Vampire by sacrificing Scholar of New Horizons.
2. When Scholar of New Horizons dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its replacement effect.
3. Resolve the Bloodthrone Vampire ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into a private engine of resurrection, granting persist to your other nontoken creatures while its daytime face helps weave your spells together. By sacrificing Scholar of New Horizons to Bloodthrone Vampire, you trigger the scholar's demise while simultaneously pumping the vampire into a terrifyingly large threat. Because Isilu gives the scholar persist, it immediately returns to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter—a counter which Scholar of New Horizons can conveniently strip off to tutor up a Plains, resetting the loop entirely.
