How it works

1. Activate Spawning Pit by sacrificing Selfless Police Captain.
2. When Selfless Police Captain dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its replacement effect.
3. Resolve the Spawning Pit ability.
4. Repeat.

By utilizing the front face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, your creature spells gain convoke, allowing your creatures to help pay for them. However, it's the transformed side, Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, that truly locks the engine together by granting all your other nontoken creatures persist. When you sacrifice Selfless Police Captain to Spawning Pit, its persist ability returns it to the battlefield, where its own ability immediately places its +1/+1 counter back onto it—effectively neutralizing the -1/-1 counter it would have received. This creates an endless loop of sacrifices that endlessly feeds Spawning Pit's first ability to generate infinite charge counters, while churning through endless death and leave-the-battlefield triggers.
