How it works

1. Activate Spawning Pit by sacrificing Clockwork Hydra.
2. When Clockwork Hydra dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its replacement effect.
3. Resolve the Spawning Pit ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever engine transforms the back side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into an immortality machine for your artifact creatures by granting Isilu's persist ability to everything you control. You feed Clockwork Hydra to Spawning Pit, which gladly accepts the sacrifice to rack up charge counters while triggering the Hydra's newfound persist. Because Spawning Pit's own token-generation ability can later be fueled by the resources you generate, the whole loop feeds back into itself seamlessly.
