How it works

1. Activate Bloodthrone Vampire by sacrificing Selfless Police Captain.
2. When Selfless Police Captain dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its replacement effect.
3. Resolve the Bloodthrone Vampire ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever engine uses Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's passive grant of persist to fuel a relentless sacrifice loop. By feeding Selfless Police Captain to Bloodthrone Vampire, you trigger the captain's persist ability (granted by Isilu, the night-side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn), which returns it to the battlefield to be sacrificed all over again. Because Selfless Police Captain's own triggered ability also transfers its counters when it leaves the battlefield, you can continually pump Bloodthrone Vampire into an infinitely massive threat while generating a limitless stream of sacrifices, leaves-the-battlefield, and death triggers.
